Winner of the Sonic Hacking Contest 2017, Metal Sonic Rebooted is an extensive modification of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 with many features such as new art, layouts, mechanics, music, and etc that in total creates a different experience. Custom game engine with imported Sonic game assets. Hack of a Sonic game turning it into a non-Sonic game. Hack of a Sonic game introducing new features/content to the game. Tech demos of console to PC/console conversions are acceptable if based on an existing ROM and/or disassembly. Joke/Meme entries are not allowed in the Contest. Contest entry deadline is Monday, March 6, 2017 09:00 pm PST (+8 UTC) Entries must be Sci-Fi themed; Entries can be anything from cosplay to code on a micro, but must include some type of electronics; Existing projects, or projects that were entered in previous our previous Sci-Fi contest but did not win a prize are eligible for submission as. The entries for both the Sonic Hacking Contest and the Hack Expo have now been revealed.

With the new quality criteria in place this year, twenty four entries have made the cut for the main event and are now competing to be judged as the best games for this year. The contest entries are as follows;

The hacking contest and the expo will start on November 20th, at which point all games listed here will be put up on the official website for the public to play. The events will last through to November 26th, and the winners will be announced at 8pm on that day.
